National Trail Mix Day

CELEBRITY GOSSIP:

The Jennifer Aniston pregnancy rumors are again in full effect. Now that the actress and her beau Justin Theroux have moved in together, sources say they are expecting a baby. Us Weekly claims that there have been some hints -- Jen was supposedly sick during the couple's recent trip to Hawaii and one insider told the magazine, "She wasn't drinking alcohol and she looked pregnant. People were noticing and talking about it like it was a fact."

ON THIS DAY IN COUNTRY

August-31-2011
• Clay Walker earned his first platinum album with his self-titled debut in 1994.
• George Jones topped the Billboard country singles list with "The Grand Tour" in 1974.
• Dolly Parton's "Love Is Like A Butterfly" became her third Number One in a year in 1974.
• Merle Haggard's prison-themed "Mama Tried" claimed the top spot on the Billboard country singles chart in 1968.

Celebrity Spotlight

Even though Blake Shelton didn’t have a hand in writing the title track of his latest album, Red River Blue, it’s still a true story. The singer’s friend, Buddy Owens, decided to write the tune after hearing of Blake’s relationship with then-girlfriend Miranda Lambert. “At some point along the way, Miranda and I had gotten in a fight and broken up for one of our week-long breakups, or two days or whatever. But at this moment, I had seen him that night and he asked how she was doing, and I said, ‘Aw, Man. Ya know, I screwed up.’ He said, ‘Aw, Man, I hate that, ya know.’ He went and wrote a song about a guy from Oklahoma and a girl from Texas breaking up, and about how the Red River is, ya know, the great divide, symbolic, between the two.” Well, it isn’t anymore, since we all know how Blake and Miranda’s love story led to a fairytale wedding that took place this May. Speaking of the happily married couple, they’ll appear on NBC’s Dateline Monday, August 29th. Host Hoda Kotb will sit down with Mr. and Mrs. Shelton as well as Miranda’s new girl-group the Pistol Annies. The special airs at 10PM Eastern.

Riddle Me This

I am just two and two. I am hot. I am cold. I am the parent of numbers that cannot be told. I am a gift beyond measure, a matter of course. I am given with pleasure when taken by force.
What am I?

I'm a Kiss!

HOMETOWN HERO’S

Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are
Kathleen (Kat) Ferguson.
My hero is my oldest and best friend, Kat. I met her when I was 17, I am now 40. I never had a real family having alcoholic parents and no siblings. Kat took me into hers. I care for her as the sister I always wanted and I know without her, I would not be here. I have been unemployed since Sept. and only make $115/wk in unemployment. Kat has been paying my house payment, otherwise we would have lost our home. She has also been buying diapers for my baby twins. She works to help us have a home, food and bills paid. I am in OR and she is in CA, making seeing each other impossible. She is and always has been my angel and sister sent from the universe to save me from my darkest hours so I could have a family and experience real happiness. I can't do much for her, but she will always have my love, loyalty, and my family as hers. Thanks Kat. I love you more than you know.

MAN CAVE

Rafael Nadal's first match as defending U.S. Open champion was hardly a tour de force.
He would fall behind in a set, then come back. Fall behind, then come back.
His serve was broken six times; that happened a total of five times in seven matches during his 2010 run to the title at Flushing Meadows. His shots didn't have their normal depth. He needed to save seven set points during the second set.
Three-time U.S. Open champion Serena Williams followed Nadal into Arthur Ashe Stadium for her first singles match in the tournament since her 2009 tirade at a line judge. She never was challenged by 54th-ranked opponent of Serbia, needing less than an hour to win.

E-Mail “Inbox”

Don, I graduated college in May of 2010. I dated the same guy Jack for all four years. I'm from here. He's from Canada.

After graduation I moved back to the area and my boyfriend moved back to Vancouver. Outside of a few weekends, we haven't been together since graduation.

Rob works in the film industry in Vancouver. I've been working down here. He swore he would come back to the states but his career in Canada seems to be going well. It seems like he's given up on coming back down here.

Every time we're on the phone and I mention me moving up there something happens that makes him change the topic or end the call.

We still talk on the phone for at least a half an hour a day. I love him. Rob is the only guy I've ever been. He's the only guy I've ever loved. I can't go to bed unless I've talked to him that day.

But it looks like our relationship is going no where. What should I do? Should I give him an ultimatum on moving to the US? Should I give him an ultimatum on letting me move in with him in Canada?

It's hard to have a boyfriend if you never see him.

What should I do?
Jessica

Jessica, that’s a tough situation. I think I would push for a solid definitive answer. You can’t be expected to stay on the hook forever. Especially if the guy is not overjoyed with the idea of the two of you solidifing your relationship. Long distance relationships are rotten. Make your move, if he doesn’t reciprocate, cut him loose.
Good Luck

HEALTH MOMENT

Here is good news.
Chocoholics have reason to celebrate today: A large new study confirms that chocolate may be good for the heart and brain.
Regularly eating chocolate could cut the risk of heart disease and stroke by about one-third, says researcher Oscar H. Franco, MD, PhD, of the University of Cambridge in the U.K.
But before you indulge, a cautionary note: Chocolate bars, cookies, and drinks are high in sugar, fat, and calories, so eating too much can lead to weight gain and, you guessed it, heart disease. "Moderation is key,"

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) If you won the lottery, would you still use coupons? 96% of Americans say . . . ABSOLUTELY. And it was consistent across the board . . . whether they make $20,000-a-year or $150,000-a-year.

#2.) In addition to ruining your life and costing you money, divorce can also be bad for your health. That's because newly divorced people are more likely to smoke, drink, and be have promiscuous. As a result, divorced men are ten times more likely to die than married men who are the same age.

And I leave you with this thought…

"Dreams are today's answers to tomorrow's questions."
