Riddle Me This

I have a big mouth and I am also quite loud! I am NOT a gossip but I do get involved with everyone's dirty business. Can you name me?

Official answer: Vacuum cleaner. A washing machine would also work.

Celebrity Spotlight

The video for Jason Aldean’s latest single “Tattoos on This Town” premieres today on CMT and CMT.com. Filmed mostly in an aircraft hangar, Jason says the video has a slight patriotic feel to it, which ties into the video’s unexpected interpretation of the song. “I think it’s gonna be something that’s a little different from anything we’ve done before with the way we kinda of tie it all in at the end. It starts out probably like you would think, you know, showing a young couple together, ‘carving-their-names-in-a-tree’ kinda deal. And then from there, it kinda takes you on a different path, I think, than people that listen to the song think it’s going to.” Jason will bring his My Kinda Party tour to Nashville in February. Tickets for the Music City date sold out within minutes of going on sale this past Friday. Selling out in his hometown is an ‘unbelievable feeling,’ Jason said in a release.

HOMETOWN HERO’S

Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Charlene Peoples
My sister, Charlene, fought the battle of ovarian cancer. She subjected her body to treatments and pain that no human should suffer. She never lost her will to live, or more importantly her will to love! Her poor body gave out, but her spirit lives on! She was the most courageous and peaceful loving soul I have ever met. We have all learned something from her and are grateful!

Charlene Peoples is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.

MAN CAVE

Five thoughts on the playoff picture after the Rays and Red Sox both won in the American League, and the Cardinals won while the Braves lost in the National League.
1. This will be the eighth consecutive year at least one playoff entrant is decided on the regular season's final day. In each of the last seven seasons, at least one playoff spot remained up for grabs on the final day of the season, and that streak is now eight, as neither wild card has been clinched. The Rays and Red Sox are tied in the AL; the Braves and Cardinals are tied in the NL.
The great appeal of both March Madness and the NFL playoffs is their one-game, winner-take-all approach, and baseball could have a taste of that this week. In 2007, '08 and '09 baseball saw a 163rd game added to the regular season, twice to decide the AL Central and once to determine the NL wild card.
Such a scenario is in play this season, with a twist -- if the AL teams both win or both lose and the NL teams also remain in sync, then baseball could have two one-game playoffs on Thursday. It could be a preview of what's to come every year if a second wild card is added to each league, as has been rumored to happen in the upcoming new collective bargaining agreement.

In the AL, the Rangers' magic number to clinch the AL's second-best record -- which comes with the dual perks of having home field advantage in the ALDS and of avoiding the Yankees -- is one after they blew out the Angels 10-3 in a five-homer explosion. Texas would wrap it up Wednesday with a win or a Detroit loss.

E-Mail “Inbox”

Don I’m emailing you because I’m in a panic right now because I accidently broke my husband’s iPad when I knocked it off the kitchen table.

My best friend told me she always breaks bad news to her husband by cooking him a nice meal then sleeping with him, and then when he’s tired she breaks bad news to him. What do you think about this method? Should I sleep with my boyfriend if I always have bad news for him?

Signed,
Christy

Christy, as a guy, I can guarantee that strategy can never be a bad thing when married. However, I don’t condone that kind of thing before marriage. Try getting him a replacement, if that doesn’t work, make a nice dinner and break it to him gently over a nice meal.
Good Luck

HEALTH MOMENT

Make that colon cancer chance history.
A new study suggests fruits and vegetables may help protect different parts of the colon against cancer.
Broccoli and cauliflower helped one part of the colon more, while carrots and apples helped in another part.
Australian researchers have found a link between different types of fruits and vegetables and cancer risk in different parts of the colon. Specifically, the study found that the risk of cancer in the part of the large bowel that runs up the right side of the abdomen and across was not associated with total combined intake of fruits and vegetables or total intake of either one. However, the family of vegetables that includes cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower was linked to a lower risk of cancer in that part of the colon.
Why fruits and vegetables would affect various parts of the colon differently is not known, the study researchers write.
They called for more studies that follow larger numbers of people since the findings of this study only show an association, and do not prove cause and effect.

WHAT’S FOR DINNER

Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry
Ingredients
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 1/2 cloves garlic, crushed
• 2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger root, divided
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
• 1 small head broccoli, cut into florets
• 1/2 cup snow peas
• 3/4 cup julienned carrots
• 1/2 cup halved green beans
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 2 1/2 tablespoons water
• 1/4 cup chopped onion
• 1/2 tablespoon salt
Directions
1. In a large bowl, blend cornstarch, garlic, 1 teaspoon ginger, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil until cornstarch is dissolved. Mix in broccoli, snow peas, carrots, and green beans, tossing to lightly coat.
2. Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Cook vegetables in oil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Stir in soy sauce and water. Mix in onion, salt, and remaining 1 teaspoon ginger. Cook until vegetables are tender but still crisp.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

People are trying to cut back to make ends meet in the tough economy, but according to a new study, we still like to splurge. Americans are buying less fertilizer, flashlights, batteries, shoe polish, car wax, and socks. But while our clothes, cars, and yards are paying the price, we're not willing to give up booze and dessert. Cheesecake sales are up 22% and premixed cocktails are up 24%.
What a pain killer!

And I leave you with this thought…

"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy."
