Riddle Me This

With pointed fangs it sits in wait,
With piercing force its doles out fate,
Over bloodless victims proclaiming its might,
Eternally joining in a single bite.
What am I?

I'm a Stapler

Celebrity Spotlight

Keith Urban is nominated in two categories for the upcoming CMA Awards. He's up for Male Vocalist and the night's big award, Entertainer of the Year. The news was announced Tuesday morning by Jake Owen and The Band Perry during the live broadcast of Good Morning America.
Keith tells us he appreciates the industry's recognition now more than ever. ["It's an awesome feeling! It really is. When I saw my name in those two categories I was just absolutely floored, cause it's never a given. I think any artist can see that very clearly that you just never know who's gonna end up in these categories. More than ever it seems to me this year just to get nominated is like an award. There's no question about it, it's a tight little category and there's an enormous amount of people that didn't make that category that are absolutely worth of those awards too, so (I'm) very grateful."]
The CMA Awards will take place on November 9th in Nashville. The show, which will air live on ABC, will be again co-hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
• Keith continues on his Get Closer World tour with special guest Jake Owen. They play tonight in Buffalo, New York.

HOMETOWN HERO’S

Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Bill Dillon
Bill was an amazing teacher, mentor, and friend to so many. After serving in the military, he "retired" to become a professional, working with leaders and employees encouraging them to be their very best. Everyday, I still hear Bill imparting some word of wisdom or anecdote that stops and makes you think. He had a way of making you feel valued, respected and important. Bill was taken from us much to soon but lives on in all his students, friends and family that he touched along his short journey through this world.

Bill Dillon is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.

MAN CAVE

Peyton Manning underwent more neck surgery Thursday, the third time in 19 months, and will miss not only the opening game but possibly the entire season. Losing Manning for any stretch of time is a huge blow to the Colts and throws the race for the AFC South wide open. The four-time NFL MVP hasn't missed a game in 14 NFL seasons, with 227 consecutive starts, including postseason. The Colts said there would be "no estimation of a return date at this time. We will keep Peyton on the active roster until we have a clear picture of his recovery process."

E-Mail “Inbox”

I think it's annoying when people ask/suggest that I have another child and then proceed to argue with me when they don't hear the answer to which they agree.

Stop imposing your opinions on me!

How should women respond when someone comments on how many kids they should have?

Signed,
Jessica

Jessica, lighten up, I’m sure their intentions are well intended. Just smile and say you’ll give it some thought. Besides, they must think your and outstanding Mother, and that the world would be so much better with children raised by you. Enjoy the recognition.
Good Luck

HEALTH MOMENT

This could be important to your childs well-being.
A chemical found in a wide range of consumer products may be harmful to children's mental and behavioral development and muscular coordination, a study shows.
The study is published in Environmental Health Perspectives.
Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are used to make plastics more flexible and durable. They are also used as solvents.
The chemicals are used in products that include car interiors, floor tiles, raincoats, nail polish and other cosmetics, synthetic leathers, and food packaging.
An increasing number of studies show evidence that phthalates may be harmful, particularly for young children.
It is not clear how they disrupt development. But some evidence suggests that the chemicals may affect thyroid hormone levels. These hormone levels play a key role in prenatal and newborn brain development, according to the study.
Phthalates may also reduce the amount of testosterone produced in the body, says study researcher Robin M. Whyatt, DrPH. Whyatt is deputy director of the Columbia Center for Children's Environmental Health at Columbia University.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) Women drink 25% of the beer in this country . . . and now, there's a new beer brand marketed DIRECTLY at them. It's called Chick Beer and it's a lighter, lower-calorie beer . . . that's also less carbonated to cut down on burping. Oh and it comes in hot pink packaging. For now it's only available in Maryland but the manufacturers are working to expand.

#2.) A new survey from Captivate Network found that men are happier than women . . . pretty much all the time. Guys are 25% happier at work, mainly because they take more breaks during the day, for lunch, cigarettes, and long walks. At home, men are 8% happier, mainly because the women do about twice as many household chores. All that unhappiness makes women more likely to have stress, headaches, and weight gain.

#3.) On Monday, in the San Diego area, a man walked into a 7-Eleven, wearing a FULL-BODY GUMBY COSTUME . . . and tried to rob the place. But when he reached into his pocket to grab his weapon, the costume got in the way . . . and he ended up running off. He DID drop 26 cents as he fumbled with the costume, though, which was a net loss for him. Police are trying to track him down.
THEY SAY HE TOOK OFF ON POKIE!

And I leave you with this thought…

"The ideals which have lighted me on my way and time after time given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Truth, Goodness and Beauty."
