Celebrity Spotlight
The Pistol Annies captured the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart this week with their debut, Hell on Heels! Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe say the idea to form the band happened by accident. “[Angaleena] This whole project kinda got started because… [Miranda] Because of ‘Beige’ and ‘Bad Example’… [Angaleena] They had written songs that Miranda knew weren’t really for her record, and Ashley knew they weren’t for her record. They were like, ‘Well, we’re not gonna give these songs away! What are we gonna do?’ Enter me! [Ashley] Girl band! [laughs]” The album sold more than 44-thousand copies its debut week and also landed at #5 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart. Hell on Heels is currently available on iTunes.
Riddle Me This
I come in different shapes and sizes. Part of me are curves, others are straight. You can put me anywhere you like, but there is only one right place for me.

HOMETOWN HERO’S
Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Colin Paul
Colin Powell grew up in the Bronx. He ended up going to college where he found his true calling in the U.S. Army. In time, he became the first Black man to become Staff Chief of Joints and Secretary of State. Nobody in his family thought he would amount to much because of his attitude, but he proved them wrong.

MAN CAVE
The remnants from Tropical Storm Lee pushed through the Atlanta area with a fury, bringing heavy rain and fierce wind.
NASCAR only hopes the miserable weather is gone by Tuesday.
The Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway was postponed Sunday night when the outer bands of the storm doused the track before the drivers could even start their engines. Given the gloomy forecast, officials didn't even bother trying to hold the race on Monday.
That turned out to be a good call. Most of Georgia was under tornado and flood watches, with thunderstorms expected through the evening.
The outlook for AdvoCare 500 was much better at 11 a.m. Tuesday, though there was still a 30 percent chance of additional showers.
HEALTH MOMENT
This is shocking!
Strokes in children, teens, and young adults are increasing at an alarming rate in the U.S., according to a new study.
Mary G. George, MD, MSPH, and colleagues from the CDC looked at national hospital discharge data from 42 states. They focused on three age groups: 5-14, 15-34, and 35-44. The researchers compared the rate of stroke among these groups from 1995-1996 to 2007-2008.
"The increase in the stroke hospitalization rate from 1995 to 2008 was 30% to 37% higher" among those aged 15-44, says George. While stroke is often thought of as an older person's health problem, recent research has found that strokes in youths and young adults account for up to 10% of all strokes.
Researchers say it should serve as a wake-up call. While the risk factors studied are associated with stroke, they say that the traditional ones such as obesity and high cholesterol ''play their risks out over decades." As a result, they are unlikely to explain fully the increase, they says.
However, risk factors such as alcohol abuse and drug abuse could help explain the increase. Those risk factors can be linked with strokes in a much briefer time frame.
WHAT’S FOR DINNER
Overnight Brisket
INGREDIENTS:
1 (10-pound or larger) beef brisket with fat
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups dark sweet-and-sour sauce
1 bottle liquid smoke
1 onion, chopped or sliced
TO PREPARE:
Arrange the brisket fat side up on a sheet of heavy-duty foil large enough to enclose the brisket. Place the foil and brisket in a roasting pan. Season the brisket with salt and pepper and rub 1 cup of the sauce over the surface. Pour the liquid smoke over the top and sprinkle with the onion. Seal the foil to enclose the brisket.
Pour 1 to 2 cups of water in the roasting pan. Bake at 250 degrees for 8 hours. Drain the pan drippings from the foil packet and remove all visible fat from the brisket. Rub the remaining 1 cup sauce over the surface of the brisket. Seal the foil and bake for 1 hour longer. Slice as desired.
NOTE: Brisket is great for a crowd since it goes a long way and can sit out for hours. Serve on buns, French bread, or pistolettes along with horseradish, purple onions, and plenty of extra barbecue sauce.

BREAK TIME CHATTER
#1.) This is an AMAZING story that people NEED to hear. The town of Roseville, in northern California, decided to have the cops stop giving so many tickets . . . and, instead, focus on coming up with ideas to make the roads safer. In the first six months of 2011, tickets issued were down 84% and . . . ACCIDENTS WENT DOWN BY 7%.
#2.) How much of your salary would you be willing to give up to work from home, have a four-day work week, or set your own hours? About 42% of Americans say they WOULD give up salary to have more flexibility . . . with the average amount they'd give up being around 6%.
#3.) Domino's has announced that they're starting to make plans to build a location . . . ON THE MOON. They have a firm working on it and everything. It's estimated that it will cost $22 BILLION to build. Domino's doesn't have a target date to build it . . . they just want to have the plans ready so they can be the first restaurant on the Moon once people start traveling there.
THAT SOUNDS OUT OF THIS WORLD!
And I leave you with this thought…
"Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence."
