CELEBRITY GOSSIP:

The Pitt-Jolie family -- along with the cast and crew of Pitt's film World War Z -- traveled from London to Glasgow, Scotland on Tuesday via private train. A source told People magazine, "Three cars suddenly drove onto the platform from the street, pulled up alongside the train and then they all got out. Brad was in one car with some of the kids and Angelina was in another with the others. They were all smiling and looked really happy, but then I suppose it's not every day that a kid gets to have their own train to play with!"

Burt Reynolds is facing foreclosure on his Florida home in Hobe Sound. A mortgage firm is suing the actor, claiming that Reynolds stopped making the mortgage payments a year ago and owes Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation almost $1.2 million. A local newspaper reported that Reynolds placed the 12,500 square foot, waterfront house on the market in 2009 for $8.9 million.

Miranda Lambert has this week’s hottest new song with “Baggage Claim,” the first single from her new album and Miranda says she’s thrilled to finally release the song. “‘Baggage Claim’ is my new single, first single, off my brand-new record, out 11-1-11, called Four the Record. ‘Baggage Claim’ is different for me. It’s fun; it has a great groove; it’s fun to sing live; and it’s an anthem for anyone that’s tired of puttin’ up with somebody’s crap. [Laughs].” Four The Record hits stores November 1st. Miranda’s trio Pistol Annies will release their debut album Hell On Heels August 23rd.

Riddle Me This

I guarantee," said the salesman in the pet shop, "that this purple parrot will repeat every word it hears." A customer bought the bird, but found that the parrot wouldn't speak a single word. Nevertheless, what the salesman said was true.
How could this be?

The parrot was deaf

HOMETOWN HERO’S

Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Kym Griffin
My hero is my own mother. She has been through so much. From child abuse, to beyond belief. She still is working hard to keep herself in the right state of mind. When things go wrong, she is always there to make things right. When I was little, I always wanted to be just like her. I still do. She's an awesome mother, and a great person to talk to about personal things, with others. She never stops getting through life, one step at a time.

Hey Don,
My husband’s friend just gave me what is essentially a brand new sofa. We just threw out our old sofa. I just found out that my husband’s friend who gave us the sofa . . . had sex on it with a stripper at a bachelor party.

To make things worse . . . I was told it was a hefty stripper. Once that detail was added . . . I have an image in my head. I can’t sit on the sofa without feeling a little bit nauseous.

Even though the sofa is in impeccable shape and money is tight . . . I feel we have to throw out the sofa. My husband disagrees. What should we do?

Signed,
Jeanine

Jeanine, I would recommend making your own memories on the couch drowning out any lingering historical references to the aforementioned incident.
Good Luck

MAN CAVE

Nevin Shapiro, a former Miami booster who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for masterminding a $930 million Ponzi scheme, has told Yahoo! Sports he provided impermissible benefits to 72 of the university's football players and other athletes between 2002 and 2010. Shapiro said he gave money, cars, yacht trips, jewelry, televisions and other gifts to a list of players. We’ll keep an eye out to see how this story develops.

The NFL supplemental draft originally scheduled for today has been postponed.
NFL spokesman Michael Signora confirmed Tuesday that the draft will not be held as planned and that teams have been told a new date has not yet been set.
At least five players are known to be eligible for the supplemental draft, including former Georgia running back Caleb King.

HEALTH MOMENT

Most know that cranberries can be good for fighting bladder infections. However, Women who are prone to bladder infections may get more help from daily antibiotics than cranberry capsules, a new study shows. This is important information for those of use who suffer from numerous bladder infections.
But don't count out the cranberry as a natural medicine for bladder infections, also known as urinary tract infections just yet.
Experts who reviewed the research say that it has important limitations that may explain why women who took the capsules didn't see benefits.
The study recruited 221 premenopausal women with a history of frequent bladder infections and split them into two groups.
After a year, the average number of UTIs reported by the antibiotic group was about two, compared to four in the cranberry group. Before the study started, the women said they'd averaged six to seven UTIs in the previous year.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) Your cell phone is making you rude and stupid. A recent Pew survey found that one in eight people have pretended to be using their cell phone to avoid having to interact with people around them. And one in four people have had trouble doing something in the past month, because they didn't have their phone and had to rely on their own personal knowledge. The most popular reason for having a cell phone is to provide entertainment when we're bored, which finished slightly higher than providing a way to get help in an emergency.

#2.) Women and car dealers have NEVER had a relationship based on trust . . . and this shows that isn't changing. In a new survey, more than half of women say they believe a car dealer will try to rip them off . . . saying that dealers are patronizing when they talk to them . . . they never go car shopping without a guy . . . and say buying a car is as bad as being a victim of road rage.

#3.) A new study proves that, yeah, nice guys really do finish last. At least when it comes to salaries. In the study, men who were argumentative and less agreeable at work earned 18% more than agreeable guys . . . almost a $10,000-a-year difference on average. The theory here is that agreeable men look less assertive so they get fewer promotions . . . and they're less likely to negotiate better salaries. Let’s all go demand a raise right now.

And I leave you with this thought…

"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it. ".
