CELEBRITY GOSSIP:

Just six months after being shot in the head, the Arizona Congresswoman made a surprise return to Congress and received a standing ovation prior to voting in favor of the debt reduction resolution. It passed by a count of 269-161.

Kelsey Grammer can scarcely keep his own house in order. But the actor still thinks he'd make a good politician, admitting to The New York Post that he possesses the "narcissistic personality" necessary for that world and would consider a run for Mayor of NYC.

ON THIS DAY IN COUNTRY

In 1979…"One for the Road," a duet album featuring Willie Nelson & Leon Russell, is certified gold.

In 1986…George Strait makes a stop at #1 on the Billboard country chart with "Nobody in His Right Mind Would've Left Her."

In 1988…Reprise releases Dwight Yoakam's "Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room."

In 2000…Jerrod Niemann visits Nashville for the first time, one month before he moves permanently from Texas.

Celebrity Spotlight

Texas born and bred JT Hodges brings a fresh new cut to country music with his debut single, “Hunt You Down.” JT is signed to Toby Keith’s record label and is opening for Toby on his Locked and Loaded tour. “That’s like the reward you know? (laughs) You do all the rehearsals, you know, you get all prepared and then finally you get to get out on stage and it’s a great opportunity for people to kinda get to know me a little bit and what I’m doing.” JT comes from a musical background as his father opened one of the first multi-track recording studios and his mother was offered a recording contract once but turned it down to stay home and be with her family. Look for JT’s debut album to arrive later this year.

Riddle Me This

Mike was investigating a murder scene with his 2 police man. The suspects are Trish [her sister]. Dave [her partner] and Jordan [her dad]. Then Mike found a note with numbers and letters. It looks like this: t1 pip 515

After that Mike arrested the killer. Who did it?

Trish did it. When you put the messege upside down. It says "SIS did it." Trish is her sister

HOMETOWN HERO’S

Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Michael Higgins
Michael H. was the lead singer for my favorite band. I am inspired by him for several reasons: unlike many top rock musicians, he did not have an ego, when he walked out on stage to perform, he gave his performances everything he had, he was not afraid to be himself, he wrote many heartfelt, inspiring, and powerful song lyrics that continue to be relevant and loved even now. When he sang, it was truly from the heart, and he was real, not phony. Michael was also loved for his ability to connect with people and truly show an interest in their lives. He has also inspired my own creativity. Michael died in 1997, but he lives on through his music. I miss him, even though I never met him in person.

E-Mail “In” Basket

Dear Don, I love your show. I told my boyfriend I was going to take him out to dinner this weekend. But I was hoping he would really offer to pay. When the check came, I looked in my wallet and said “Wow, it looks like I’m a little short on cash.” He didn’t offer to kick in anything.

Am I dating a cheap guy?

Signed,
Marina

Thanks for listening Marina. I really can’t say if you’re dating a cheap guy, but I can tell you one thing. When you ask a guy what he’s thinking and he says, “Nothing,” That’s usually what’s going on in our heads, NOTHING. My point is that us guys can get distracted pretty easy and what you may see as obvious, we don’t recognize at all. Talk to him about what you are thinking, you might be surprised at his response.

HEALTH MOMENT

If you’re a Tyleno user, you will find this need to know information.
The maximum dose of Extra Strength Tylenol brand acetaminophen will soon be six, not eight pills a day.
Johnson & Johnson's McNeil Consumer Healthcare announced the voluntary dosage reduction last week. Labels will carry new dosing instructions this fall.
The company says it will cut the maximum dosage of Regular Strength Tylenol and other acetaminophen-containing products in 2012.
"Acetaminophen is safe when used as directed,” says Edwin Kuffner, MD, McNeil vice president of over-the-counter medical affairs. "But, when too much is taken, it can cause liver damage."
The action is intended to cut the risk of such accidental overdoses, the company says in a news release.
A major cause of acetaminophen overdose is that people often don't realize a combination product contains the drug. They then take two or more acetaminophen-containing products at the same time, often exceeding the safe dosage.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) A new survey has figured out the top 20 tricks women use to feel sexy. The top six are: Putting on their favorite perfume . . . flashing a big, happy smile . . . painting their nails . . . getting their hair colored or highlighted . . . spending hours straightening their hair . . . and showing off some cleavage.

#2.) A new study found that red wine might actually be good for your skin. Scientists found compounds in the grapes that help fight off UV rays . . . which can contribute to protecting you from wrinkles, sunburns, and even skin cancer.

#3.) A new study ranked the top 10 vacation spots where people gain the most weight. And yes . . . America is number one. The average tourist gains EIGHT POUNDS on a two-week trip to the U.S. The Caribbean came in second, followed by France, Italy, Greece, and England. Overall, the average person gains about five pounds on a two-week trip.

And I leave you with this thought…

"We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong.
The amount of work is the same."
