Celebrity Spotlight
Alan Jackson’s new video for his latest single “Long Way to Go” premieres today on CMT. The country legend lets loose to have a good time at a tiki bar in this fun video, shot at The Square Grouper in Jupiter, Florida. Alan admits that hanging out at bars like the one in the video can be all work and no play, since he ends up thinking of great lyrics and melodies for songs. “There’s been a lot of places I’ve been, whether it’s a restaurant or bar, or somewhere with people, and you get some kind of little hook or idea that you can’t, you try to remember. A lot of times I get the ideas in places like that, and then I don’t write ‘em down, and then you forget what the idea is anyway.” Alan is expected to release a new album this fall.
Riddle Me This
The answer to this riddle has a hole in the middle and some have been known to fall in it.
In tennis it's nothing but it can be received,
And sometimes a person may win it.
Not meant to be bought but it may yet be perceived,
Like princes and news it's in clover.
The answer to this riddle has a hole in the middle,
And without it one cannot start over.
What am I?
I am love
HOMETOWN HERO’S
Simply put, Hometown Hero’s are people who help others in some way.
Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Mary Crecey
I have to say too that my Mom is my hero. Our family lost my father in 1972. She is the mother of 3, I am the middle child. I was 13, my brother 14 and my baby sister was 9. My mother has taught me all there is to know about being a mother myself and the type of person that people can depend on. When we were growing up we didn't have a lot but had what we needed. The love she gave then and to this day is beyond what I can put into words. She has given of herself in every way...she has taught me to give to people when they are down, to be a true friend, to be loyal and honest and to trust others. I am 51 years old now and have 3 children of my own and a grandson. My hope is that I have been able to pass on the values she gave me to my children. The world is a better place because of her and I aspire to be like her.

Hey Don, quick question, my girlfriend told me at the beach yesterday that I need to lose a few pounds and that I’m getting fat. But if I ever told her that she would freak out, cry and then probably break up with me!
For some reasons it’s ok for women to tell guys they need to lose weight but if a guy tells a woman she needs to lose weight he’s a JERK.
I wanted to tell my girlfriend she could lose a few pounds too but I bit my lip because I didn’t want to deal with it. Can you give me some perspective?
Signed,
Mikey
Sure Mikey, we are men and we can take just about anything you throw at us. Women on the other hand are delicate flowers and need our strength not our criticism. I always try to remember two words that have always served me well, “YES DEAR.” Thanks for listening Mikey, good luck.
HEALTH MOMENT
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) that incorporates a self-help workbook may help people with pain, weakness, dizziness, and other symptoms -- with no underlying physical disease -- to feel and function better, a study shows.
The study is published in Neurology.
CBT is a time-limited course of talk therapy that aims to improve symptoms by changing the way people think about and cope with their symptoms. It can be helpful on its own. But access to CBT can be an issue in certain communities.
The new method incorporates a self-help workbook to overcome these barriers by giving people the tools to practice on their own. Study participants are taught how to use this workbook during four, 30-minute counseling sessions over a three-month period by a nurse or therapist.

WHAT’S FOR DINNER
Tortilla Soup
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 large onion, sliced
• 8 garlic cloves, minced
• 6 Tablespoons vegetable oil, plus additional for frying tortillas
• 7 green chiles, stemmed and seeded
• 4 cups water
• 5 tomatoes, seeded and chopped
• 8 cups chicken broth
• Salt and Pepper to taste
• 12 corn tortillas, cut into strips
• 1-1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
• 2 avocados
TO PREPARE:
1. In a stock pot, cook onion and garlic in 4 Tablespoons oil over medium heat, stirring until soft. Increase heat and add chiles, stirring to avoid burning. Cook for 1 minute or until soft. Remove 1 chile and cut into 10 strips, reserve for garnish.
2. To the pot, add 4 cups water and tomatoes and bring the liquid to a boil. Simmer mixture for 30 minutes.
3. In a blender, puree the mixture in batches.
4. In pot, heat 2 Tablespoons of remaining oil over medium heat until hot, but not smoking. Return the puree and cook, stirring for 5 minutes. Stir in the broth, salt and pepper. Simmer soup for 15 minutes.
5. In a large skillet, heat 1/2-inch of additional oil over high heat until hot, but not smoking. Fry the tortilla strips in batches, stirring for 30 seconds until crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
6. Divide fried tortillas among 10 heated bowls. Pour the soup over them and top each one with 1 strip of the reserved chile. Sprinkle each serving with some shredded cheese and top soup with sliced avocado wedges.
NOTE: Serve with warm buttered tortillas and a fresh fruit salad.

BREAK TIME CHATTER
#1.) J.D. Power and Associates just put out the results of their annual survey on the most appealing cars in the U.S. And for the seventh straight year, the brand that people most want to own and drive is . . . Porsche. It finished just ahead of Jaguar, BMW, Land Rover, and Audi. Suzuki came in last on the list, just below Subaru, Jeep, Nissan, and Honda.
#2.) This goes against all reason . . . but according to a new study, GIVING a massage can be just as relaxing as getting one. Seriously. A biologist who led the study says that doing something so nice for someone else makes you feel good in return, and that helps you relax too. It gives you your own happy ending, if you will.
#3.) Nobody likes cleaning the bathroom, kids are useless when you ask them to help with chores, and Mom ends up doing everything. And now a new survey sponsored by CLR cleaning products has confirmed it. Mom does almost 10 hours of chores a week, more than twice as much as kids do, but 37% of kids still complain that they're asked to do too much. Half of parents say their kids spend as much time arguing about chores as they do actually doing them. I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT!
And I leave you with this thought…
"Adventure isn't hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day to day obstacles of life facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and in the process, discovering our own unique potential."
