Celebrity Spotlight

Jerrod Niemann is making a splash on the country charts with his current single, “One More Drinking Song.” For Jerrod’s fans, the song may sound a little familiar, as it is actually a re-release from his days as an aspiring country singer. Jerrod credits his buddy Chris Young for the idea to revive the song, and giving it another chance to go to the top of the charts. “I felt horrible, horrible—because I always wanted to release this song, and I didn’t know if I’d ever have a shot. And then when Chris Young came out and re-released ‘Voices’, you realize maybe it was a possibility. So luckily, the label was willing to give it another shot. And I’m just glad it has the chance to be heard.” Jerrod recently filmed the video for “One More Drinking Song” at The Stage on Broadway in Nashville’s famed honky-tonk district. His buddies Jake Owen, Lee Brice and new artist Tyler Farr appear in the video riding the Nashville Pedal Tavern, a man-powered bar on wheels.

HEALTH MOMENT

Spider bites aren't as common as most people and most doctors think, according to a new analysis.
At the same time, researchers also say poor understanding of truly dangerous spider bites delays treatment when a person really has been bitten by a dangerous spider.
For example, the bite of the brown recluse spider can cause death of a sizeable area of skin resulting in a deep, scarring ulcer. Yet even in areas infested with brown recluse spiders, true bites are uncommon.
The names of the two U.S. spiders with harmful bites are well known: the black widow and the brown recluse. The two spiders have different poisons:
• The bite of the black widow may not be very painful at first. Pain onset usually is gradual and usually takes the form of back and belly pain that can last for hours or even days.
• The bite of the brown recluse can be mild and just cause a mild, itchy bump. But in severe cases, the bite may be painless at first, but over the next two to eight hours develop a sharp, deep pain followed by a burning feeling. The area around the bite reddens and spreads into a deep ulcer that can be as wide as 16 inches across and can take six to eight weeks to heal.
Because of the range of symptoms, people often mistake insect bites, chemical burns, allergic reactions, and skin infections for spider bites. But true spider bites are relatively rare, even in households found to be infested with hundreds of brown recluse spiders.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) If you're stressed, I'm not sure this will make you feel better . . . but at least you don't live in India. According to a new global study, women in India are the most stressed out in the WORLD . . . 87% of women there feel stressed most of the time. American women came in 11th place . . . 53% feel stressed out most of the time.

#2.) Two Dakotas was probably too much anyway: An 82-year-old man in Grand Forks, North Dakota was looking through the state constitution for some reason, and found that it doesn't specifically mention a governor. Without a governor, the North Dakota constitution is in conflict with the U.S. Constitution . . . which technically means it's not a state. So now the state legislature is scrambling to fix it.

#3.) For the first time ever, fewer than one out of every four people in the U.S. is a child, at 24%. It's not because we're having fewer kids . . . since 2000, the number of children in the U.S. has grown 2.6%. It's because we're doing such a good job of keeping people alive that now there are way more ADULTS. HEY, LOOKING LIKE AN ADULT AND ACTING LIKE AN ADULT ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!

And I leave you with this thought…

Each time courage comes out, breaking the fear that is within you, the spirit is renewed.
