Celebrity Spotlight

Kellie Pickler delivers a more traditional sound on her next album and with the new music, we learn a little more about Kellie than we have with previous albums. Kellie says her new single “Tough” describes how she’s had to learn to roll with the punches of life. “You know, everyone’s kinda dealt a hand of cards in life and you don’t get to pick what your hand is. Sometimes life can be a little cruel. Um…But, it’s really what you make of it and you gotta learn how to play those cards. Cause the other team; they don’t know what you have. They might think they know what you got but they don’t know cause they can’t see your cards.” Kellie says she’s already hearing from fans who say they can relate to the new song, which is featured on Kellie’s next album, due in the fall.

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Helen Smith
Helen was abused and had a very rough life as a child. She had been married four times and had three children by the age of 21. She finished high school, went to college and raised her children alone without welfare. She's a highly trained professional. If anyone had a right to lay back and think 'the world owes me', she did, but she chose to decide her own future and the future of her children.

HEALTH MOMENT

There's a reason that swaying gently in a hammock is so relaxing, and it's not just ocean breezes and piƱa coladas. A new study finds that rocking as you fall asleep actually affects your brain waves, hastening the descent into slumber.
The results, which will be published in the June 21 issue of the journal Current Biology, could explain why everyone from babies to adults finds rocking soothing. They may also come in handy for people hoping to grab a quick afternoon nap, which has been shown to refresh the brain.
The researchers found that we fall asleep faster and slept more deeply when the bed was rocking. When the bed was still, sleepers spent about half of their nap in the initial phase of light sleep, known as the N1 phase. When the bed was rocking, the N1 phase took up only about 30 percent of the nap. N2, or slightly deeper sleep, increased by about 10 percent when the bed was swaying, increasing from about 50 percent of the nap to more than 60 percent.
The researchers aren't yet sure whether rocking is more restful over the course of an entire night of sleep, but they hope future research could aid in treatment for insomnia. In the meantime, you now have permission to laze away summer afternoons on the hammock. Science said so.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) In a new survey, 91% of women say they'd marry for LOVE over MONEY. But as the survey went on, they admitted there are a few catches: 75% of women say they would have trouble marrying a guy who's unemployed . . . and 41% wouldn't marry someone who makes significantly less than them. So they'd marry for love over money . . . as long as you're clearly making SOME decent money. GO FIGURE!

#2.) Since 1976, the amount of fireworks Americans buy in a year has gone up 700%, but the number of injuries from fireworks is down 90%. In 2009, only one person died from fireworks, and he died igniting a mortar shell in a tube over his head. For comparison's sake, that same year two people died when they were crushed by vending machines they were tipping over.

#3.) At a yoga festival In Colorado, a woman was using one of the Porta-Potties when she noticed something moving in the receptacle tank below. Turns out it was a MAN . . . with a fetish for watching people use the bathroom. He managed to escape . . . the cops say he fled from the scene, quote, "covered in feces." WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!.

And I leave you with this thought…

Unkindness almost always stands for the displeasure that one has in oneself.
