Celebrity Spotlight
Ronnie Dunn’s solo debut is #1 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. The self-titled project includes his single, “Bleed Red” and another track called “Singer In A Cowboy Band,” which Ronnie says is the most personal of the collection of new songs. He says it’s a throwback to his decision to walk away from his mother’s dream for him and follow in his dad’s footsteps. “I left home in high school and…after I graduated and went to Abilene, Texas…was in a religious college before I realized that that was probably not my deal. I always felt like I let my mother down. At the same time, I ended up, you know, living my dad’s dream which…he was an aspiring country singer.” Ronnie’s new single, “Cost of Livin’” is also included on the album, which sold 45-thousand copies its first week.

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Mary (aka) Granny Herman
My grandmother Mary, aka Granny, was born in 1906. At 104 she was dedicated to family, friends and living life to its fullest. She taught me how to be honest and how important it was to be selfless and to always care for others. Truth, honesty, love and patience were staples of her every day life. She would tell of stories where she faced racism, where others were not so loving but she loved and respected everyone regardless of their color or how they treated her. Granny showed us how to give and get respect, how to expect the best from ourselves and others. She passed away March 27 2011, but her virtues will live on in everyone she touched. She will always be my hero.

HEALTH MOMENT
Many fathers these days want it all — time with kids, promotions at work and a spouse who shares the parenting duties.
But some say they would trade in their commute and office gig for a stay-at-home role.
A new study surveying nearly 1,000 fathers in the United States working at Fortune 500 firms takes a look at just how hard it is for dads to balance their work and life goals.
The study titled "The New Dad: Caring, Committed and Conflicted" was unveiled on Wednesday by the Boston College Center for Work & Family.
Dads have long been celebrated for their role as breadwinner in the family. Now the top priority of men with children under the age of 18 still living at home is the softer side of being a father —providing love and support.
Most dads acknowledged the parenting duties should be split equally, but it rarely happens that way, the study revealed.
That does not mean dads are not putting family first.
Job security was overwhelmingly important to fathers, the study showed, with high earnings and advancement taking a back seat.
BREAK TIME CHATTER
#1.) A new survey revealed the top 15 foods in the U.S. And they are, in order: Pizza, steak, chicken, Mexican, pasta, Italian, seafood, burgers, ice cream, sushi, chocolate, Chinese, tacos, salad, and spaghetti. Worldwide, the top three most popular foods are pasta, meat, and rice.
#2.) In England, a man decided he was going to get rid of a wart on the tip of his middle finger by BLASTING IT OFF with a SHOTGUN. But he couldn't hold the gun steady, and ended up blowing off two-thirds of the finger. On the bright side, he DID get rid of the wart. On the down side, he didn't just lose a finger, he was arrested because the gun was unregistered.
#3.) On Wednesday, a college football player from the University of New Mexico was kicked off a US Airways flight . . . because he wouldn't PULL UP HIS PANTS. He was sagging them almost to his knees, which violated the airline's policy against, quote, "indecent exposure or inappropriate attire." During the argument over his pants he ended up getting arrested for trespassing. What can you say about that?
And I leave you with this thought…
A competent professional listens well, probes, asks questions, and thinks before he speaks. This is easy to say, but hard to do.
