Celebrity Spotlight

Singer-songwriter Josh Kelley has released his second country single, “Gone Like That”. This one is special to him not only because it was the song that convinced him to pursue a country music career, but it reflects a real life experience he had years ago with an ex. “She would come in my life for like a week then all the sudden she’d be gone and I would think that uh…that we really had something there and then finally it took like a month to get over her. And then, she would just show up. And so, that’s kind of what the song is about, you know? I just can’t take another, ‘gone like that.’” Josh, who is married to Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl, wrote every song on his debut album, Georgia Clay. This fall, Josh joins Taylor Swift’s Speak Now tour.

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Kim Mason
My hero is amazing to me. He has helped me through so much that I have gone through in the past 2 years. He has been there for me, when I least expect it, and even when I ask for it. He gives me advice when I ask for it, and believe it or not, it makes a lot of sense.
Without dispelling too much, his care and warmth, makes me feel at ease- no matter how rough things look.
He has a true heart of gold. If the world had more heroes like him, then the world would be a happier place.
My hero is an amazing person! And I'm thankful for knowing him.
For me to decide which value fits my hero the best is a hard decision. He's very: caring, full of compassion, gratitude, humility, patience, fun to be with, etc....

HEALTH MOMENT

People who log more hours in front of the television are at greater risk of dying, or developing diabetes and heart disease, a new study suggests.
"The message is simple," study author Dr. Frank Hu at the Harvard School of Public Health told Reuters Health. "Cutting back on TV watching is an important way to reduce sedentary behaviors and decrease risk of diabetes and heart disease."
Every day, Americans spend an average of 5 hours watching television while Australians and some Europeans log 3.5 to 4 hours a day, the researchers note.
People who sit in front of the TV are not only not exercising, they are likely eating unhealthy foods, Hu explained. "The combination of a sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy diet, and obesity creates a 'perfect breeding ground' for type 2 diabetes and heart disease."
Hu and his team found that for every 2 hours of daily television people watched, their risk of diabetes increased by 20 percent, while their risk of heart disease rose by 15 percent. Each 2 hours of television per day increased the risk of dying by 13 percent.
We need 30 minutes of physical activity at least five days a week to keep our hearts healthy, so why not take a walk after work, join a sports team or even just get out for a bit of gardening in the evenings. It's bound to be a lot more rewarding than staring at the box.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) According to a new study, one of THE biggest reasons couples fight isn't money, sex, or anything close. No . . . fights happen because WIVES NEED SLEEP. The study found that the more trouble a woman has sleeping, the more negative her interactions are with her husband. Men's sleep has less of an effect because, quote, "women tend to drive the emotional climate."

#2.) The U.S. spends more money per capita on health care than any other country in the world. And here's how POORLY and INEFFICIENTLY we're using it. In spite of that spending, we only have the THIRTY-FIRST highest life expectancy in the world. For men, the life expectancy is 75.6, for women, it's 80.8.

#3.) Last week, a woman in Colorado went into labor and her husband rushed her to the hospital. On the way, she realized they weren't going to make it . . . so he pulled into a 7-ELEVEN PARKING LOT and she gave birth to her son there. Apparently, she BRIEFLY debated naming him BIG GULP as a tribute . . . but decided to name him Hunter and use Big Gulp as a nickname. Wow, that’s a lot to swallow!

And I leave you with this thought…

"You cannot raise a man up by calling him down."
