Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Nanny Jean Morgan
My hero has to be my grandmother. For years she has been fighting MS, almost 15 now. Like cancer, there is no cure for this disease, yes there are test drugs, however 90% cause more problems. She has never given up. Her disease decreases her life span every day and also her quality of life as some days she has no use of her right leg. Her disease is on a down spiral, yet instead of giving up, she keeps on living, fighting everyday - giving me the determination to never give up. Nanny Jean has been through so much in her life, and she is still fighting. She once told me,
"I'm gonna see you get to University and I'm going to see you grow up into the beautiful young lady your bound to be". Many times in my life when I'm depressed or upset, I will call my Nanny Jean, knowing she is there to comfort me and tell me no matter how hard everything is, life goes on.
I love you Nanny Jean and I hope I see you soon.
Lots of love,
your granddaughter.

HEALTH MOMENT

Derma Sciences Inc said foot ulcers in 85 percent of diabetic patients healed completely after being treated with its experimental drug at the end of a 24-week trial, improving its chances of licensing the drug to potential partners.
The data will help the company in outlicensing rights of the drug, codenamed DSC127, to a potential partner, Chief Executive Edward Quilty said in an interview.
The company said 85 percent of patients who fulfilled the eligibility protocols, or per-protocol PP population, showed complete healing at 24 weeks, compared with 52 percent in the placebo group.
In the intent-to-treat population, where all patients are included, 73 percent showed complete healing at 24 weeks, compared with 46 percent in the placebo group.
Derma Sciences was testing the drug in two dose strengths and one placebo-controlled arm.
The trial also showed statistically significant difference in healing for the PP population at 24 weeks.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) Let this sink in for a second: OSAMA BIN LADEN gave his employees more vacation time than your company gives you. In some files taken from his compound, the CIA found that bin Laden would give Al Qaeda employees five to seven paid vacation days for every three weeks they worked. His salaries were around $108 a month, which is very high for Pakistan or Afghanistan.

#2.) According to a new study, you really need to start using your vacation days. Researchers found that if you go 62 days without taking a vacation day, that's the average tipping point where people go from being, quote, "fresh and focused [to] anxious, aggressive, and ill."

#5.) According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $11.1 BILLION on Father's Day this year, which is an all-time high. That means the average person will spend $106.49 on their dad, up from $94.32 last year. I only got one thing to say about that, SWEET!!!!

And I leave you with this thought…

You should have education enough so that you won't have to look up to people; and then more education so that you will be wise enough not to look down on people.
