Celebrity Spotlight

Jason Aldean’s My Kinda Party Tour is shifting into high gear with several summer amphitheater dates. He played two sold-out shows over the weekend in Indianapolis and St. Louis, and has already sold out an upcoming show in Washington, D.C. With shows selling out, Jason must be doing something right on the road. “I’ve been fortunate enough to be out with Flatts and McGraw and Urban and you know, Toby and guys like that…that I got a chance to watch their show, you know, and kinda pull little bits and pieces from everybody’s show. I mean, believe me, anybody that I’ve been out with, I’ve been a student, I’ve stood side-stage, watched their show and watched how everything worked.” Jason’s fans can vote for him now in the 2011 CMT Music Awards, where he leads the pack with four nominations including Video of the Year for “My Kinda Party”. He’ll also perform on the show, which airs June 8th on CMT and CMT.com.

RIDDLE ME THIS

A man walks up to you and says - "everything I say to you is a lie."
Is he telling you the truth or is he lying?

He's lying. Even though he's lying when he says "everything" he says is a lie, some of the things he says can be a lie, and this is one of them.

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Mom&Dad M.
I will be 59 soon. The older I get, the more I realize my parents are my heroes. Cherish them while you can, call them and visit them often and most of all tell them you love them and appreciate them. I am glad I did. Mine are long gone now and I miss them, but they are still my heros.

HEALTH MOMENT

A controversial test which could be used to estimate how long people have left to live will go on sale to the general public in Britain later this year.
The $703 blood test measures vital structures on the tips of a person's chromosomes, called telomeres, which indicate how fast a person is aging.
Scientists believe the test can show whether a person's "biological age" is older or younger than their actual chronological age.
"We know that people who are born with shorter telomeres than normal also have a shorter lifespan," said Dr. Maria Blasco, of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre in Madrid, who is behind the new commercial telomere test.
Blasco's company, Life Length, is in talks with medical diagnostic companies across Europe to market the test and is anticipating an increasing number of clients as the cost of the test goes down.
Professor Jerry Shay, of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, who is also a scientific consultant for Life Length, said the test would certainly appeal to many people. "I think people are just basically curious about their own mortality. If you ask people what they worry about, most people would say they are worried about dying," he said.
He added, "People might say 'If I know I'm going to die in 10 years I'll spend all my money now,' or 'If I'm going to live for 40 more years I'll be more conservative in my lifestyle.'"
However, while Telomere testing is expected to become widespread within the next five or 10 years, there are already concerns over its value and ethics.
Telomere research is considered to be one of the most exciting areas in biomedical science and last year the Nobel Prize in medicine was shared between three scientists who are pioneers in the field.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

#1.) A new study has figured out the secrets to talking people into doing whatever you want. And they are: Speak moderately fast, about 3.5 words per minute . . . control your pitch, as in, don't switch from lively to monotone and back . . . use a deep voice . . . and pause naturally so it doesn't sound like you're reading off a script.

#2.) College just keeps getting more insanely expensive . . . so is it still worth it? Well, 57% of Americans, or the majority of us, say it's NOT a good value anymore. 62% of college presidents, on the other hand, think it's absolutely worthwhile. In 2010, people with four-year college degrees made an average of about $20,000-a-year more than people without degrees.

#3.) There's been some publicity lately for a fringe Christian sect that claims the world will end on May 21st. The head of that sect is now trying to make it clear he didn't pick Saturday arbitrarily . . . it's based on his real calculations. Basically, he believes that Saturday is the 7,000th anniversary of Noah and the Great Flood . . . and that we're due for the apocalypse that day. Or something. Well, what can you say about that?

And I leave you with this thought…

"Joy, love and appreciation are powerful motivators. They are feelings that humans experience around the heart. Joy is a feeling of pleasure or delight that arises from the heart. Positive feelings are what make life worth living."
