Celebrity Spotlight
Chris Young may not be nominated for an ACM Award this year, but he will be at the show to present an award and he’ll have a chance to give fans in Vegas a sneak peek at some of his new music at the Freemont Street Experience. “It’s definitely something that I’m looking forward to and excited about. You know, I’ve been before and watched other people out there on those stages and it’s all just wall to wall people the whole time. It’s really going to be a cool experience for me and my band just to get out there. We’ll play some of the new music.” Chris will also join Julianne Hough on stage at the ACM Awards to help present a special moment where Darius Rucker will take the stage with 25 Lifting Lives youth to perform the song “Music from the Heart,” a song written by kids from the music camp along with Chris and songwriter Brett James.

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Army Pvt Joseph Lief Knott
Pvt Joseph Lief Knott was killed April 17, 2005, he was with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. The Army was his pride and joy. He was an Army brat, so always had the answers about Army life. Lief loved Army life and he loved the people in the Army. Lief was one of the better people people out there. He was very personable and ALWAYS did the right thing. He wasn't one of those guys that does the right thing 99% of the time because that wasn't good enough for him. That said, he always accomplished everything he wanted. He was never afraid of hard work or getting his hands dirty.
Army Pvt Joseph Lief Knott is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.
HEALTH MOMENT
Testosterone treatment appears to improve the underlying problem in some men with type 2 diabetes, according to a study funded by U.K. drugmaker ProStrakan.
The problem — called "insulin resistance" — is that the body doesn't know how to use insulin to process sugar. Researchers found that applying testosterone in a gel reduced this problem in diabetic men who had low levels of testosterone to begin with, or in similar men without diabetes but with a cluster of heart disease risk factors called metabolic syndrome.
It also lowered their cholesterol levels and had some impact on their sexual function, as compared with a gel that looked the same but had no testosterone in it.
Testosterone is already used to treat sexual problems in men whose levels of the hormone are lower than normal. The gels can cost more than $250 per month, and experts disagree about how low testosterone levels in the body should drop before they prescribe treatment.
With millions of prescriptions every year in the U.S., some experts believe it's being overused. Researchers indicate we need a lot less testosterone for sexual function than people used to think. They say obesity impacts sexual function much more."
BREAK TIME CHATTER
The New Zealand Herald reports that this Thursday at 7 a.m., Moa brewery will launch the first "breakfast beer." It's 5.5 percent alcohol, and is a cherry-flavored wheat lager described as "a beer the ladies can enjoy, too," and perfect for champagne breakfasts if you don't like champagne. But the director of the National Addiction Center called the breakfast beer "completely irresponsible."
* It's part of IHOP's new "Rooty-Tooty, Fresh 'n' Fruity, Drunk-Off-Your-Patootie Breakfast."
And I leave you with this thought.
"Love cures people -- both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it."
