Celebrity Spotlight
Luke Bryan celebrated “Someone Else Calling You Baby,” becoming his third straight number one song yesterday at a party in Nashville. He told reporters the song was one of the first six songs he recorded for his latest album, Doin’ My Thing , but his record label didn’t feel like any of those songs were strong enough for the album. Deep down, he knew it was a hit – and now he’s grinning from ear to ear as he proved them wrong. “I thought it was going to be the lead single so the fact that ‘Someone Else Calling You Baby’ became a number one kind of validates me internally. At least I knew it was good enough to be a number one, so, I was happy about that.” A bunch of Luke’s family came into town last Thursday to celebrate his oldest son, Bo, turning three on Friday. They stayed through the weekend so they could attend the celebration for Luke’s career yesterday.
RIDDLE ME THIS
A magician was at a carnival bragging about how he could hold his breath under water for 6 minutes. A boy walked up and told him, "I can stay under water for 10 minutes! But if I can't, I'll pay you $100, but if I do, you have to pay me $100." The magician ended up having to give the boy $100. How did the boy get the money?
He got himself a glass of water and held it over his head for 10 minutes.http://www.trickyriddles.com/random.php

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Marine L/Cpl Cedric Eugene Bruns
L/Cpl Bruns 6th Engineer Support Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, passed away May 9 in a vehicle accident in Kuwait. He would have loved to see the coalition forces' progress in Iraq, his mother said. "He'd be very proud and feel that some great deed has been done, even with all the sacrifices," she said. Bruns liked target-shooting, fishing and "anything that had to do with cars," Deborah Bruns said, and he wanted to either be a race-car driver or an automotive engineer. "I wish he could have been buried in a Porsche," Deborah Bruns said. "He's up there driving one now, I know that."
L/Cpl Cedric Eugene Bruns is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.
This Is Nuts
Iran's official news agency claims that Iran has made a breakthrough that proves it's on the cutting edge of science. No, not a nuclear weapon: they've developed a flying saucer. They say it's an unmanned saucer equipped with GPS, autopilot and HD recording, and it can be used for aerial imaging and "various missions." But they didn't release any photos or video, which raised suspicions about their claim. Iran also claimed four years ago to have developed a "super-modern," radar-evading, flying boat, but to this day, nobody's ever seen it.
* The flying saucer uses the same Iranian technology pioneered by the flying carpet.
HEALTH MOMENT
Sleep deprivation may lead to overly optimistic thinking that fails to properly consider the potential consequences of financial risks, a new study suggests.
Duke University researchers assessed the effects of sleep deprivation on 29 adult volunteers who were asked to take part in several economic decision-making tasks in the morning after a normal night of sleep and again one morning after a night of sleep deprivation.
Using functional MRI scans to study brain activity, they found that those suffering from lack of sleep had increased activity in regions that assess positive outcomes and decreased activity in regions that process negative outcomes.
It’s long been known that sleep deprivation can alter decision-making skills and impair certain thinking abilities such as attention and memory, but this study focused on the way in which lack of sleep may also impact financial decision-making, the study authors noted.
BREAK TIME CHATTER
Someone was celebrating a little too much in Boston on St. Patrick's Day. Fox 25 reports that a man walked into the Brookline Avenue Starbucks, yelled, "I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich," and threw about 100 one-dollar bills into the air. He then turned and walked calmly out. Customers were so stunned, nobody picked up the money. An employee gathered it up and donated it to Japan relief efforts.
* Boy, that Mitt Romney will do anything to get votes.
And I leave you with this thought.
"People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built."
