Celebrity Spotlight

Dierks Bentley kicked off his Jagermeister Country tour last night in Wallingford, Connecticut. Josh Thompson and the new duo Miss Willie Brown are his opening acts. He picked them because he knew they’d bring a lot of energy to the show and to the after parties. “Not only for the show, but traveling around the country together, you want to be around people who are fun to be with and a good hang. And you know, the show that we’re putting on, we want people to get their money’s worth and have a good time. Come out and have a ball. And of course when the tour is sponsored by Jagermeister, the idea of the tour should be one about having fun.” Dierks said in a video blog posted recently he’ll know if they did a good job on stage if the crowd leaves without a voice left.

There is an ancient invention still used in some parts of the world today that allows people to see through walls. What is it?

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Sergeant Andrew Ralls

Sergeant Ralls, died January 9th, 2009. During deployment to Iraq, SGT Ralls served as a Combat Medic. Andrew was an outstanding soldier who served his state and country with honor and courage. He will be missed by friends and family and their service to our nation will never be forgotten. Andy was a Specialist in the Army National Guard and loved our great Nation. Andy had the type of personality that would light up a room when he walked in. He himself was raised in an Army household and grew up in various states around the United States. His quick wit, caring personality and infectious humor will be missed by so many. Andy was the type of person that would help out a total stranger and give you his last dollar if he thought you needed it more than him.
Sergeant Andrew Ralls is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.

This Is Nuts

Political pollsters have been remarking on a recent decline in support for Sarah Palin for President, even among Republicans. But a new Public Policy Polling survey found that she would really have trouble with Independents. The poll found that 84 percent of Republicans would prefer Palin for President over Charlie Sheen, but Independents went with Sheen by 41 to 36 percent. However, PPP is a Democrat polling
company, and they admit the poll wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

As if 36 percent of Independents would prefer Sarah Palin to Charlie Sheen!

HEALTH MOMENT

Bullying and other types of chronic social stress affect gene activity in the brain, suggests a new study in mice. The changes may lead to persistent social anxiety.
Just as alcohol affects your liver, stress affects your brain. The anxiety that can result from being teased and otherwise treated poorly is organically based, meaning it arises from physical changes in the brain.
It is not yet known how long the effects last but the finding suggests that the victims of bullies may find it difficult to start friendships, due to persistent social anxiety.
Studies in animals and humans have previously shown that psychological abuse can have long-lasting consequences.
Just as negative relationships affect the brain, so can positive relationships. As our social organ, it can be physically changed, and thereby healed, by supportive friendships.
If the social anxiety is particularly strong, a positive relationship with a therapist may be the first step.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

European Union Justice Commissioner Vivian Reding announced that she will move to enshrine into international law a new right: the right to be forgotten. People who had voluntarily trusted websites with personal information would have the right to demand that it be deleted, and the burden of proof would be on the websites to prove that it was necessary for them to keep it. Reding says that US-based sites like Google and Facebook that have European users would have to comply or face invasion of privacy lawsuits. Reding says a "right to be forgotten" would assure people that what they thought was a little bit of fun wouldn't jeopardize their future job prospects.

Some people had so much fun, they wish they had the right to forget.

And I leave you with this thought.

"All serious daring starts from within."
