Celebrity Spotlight

With his latest hit, “Voices,” Chris Young could join Randy Travis as the second artist in Billboard country chart history to release the same single twice and see it go to the top of the chart! Randy did it with his classic “On the Other Hand,” which stalled on the chart in 1985, only to hit #1 the next year. Joining Randy in the history books would be an honor for Chris, but it’s icing on the cake to how much it means to him that so many people have come to believe in him and his music. “You know, it’s so funny to see this song, since it’s technically been out twice, I mean it’s…its cool. I laugh about it, and it really is truly amazing how much country radio really has embraced me as an artist and stuck up for this song and people are obviously lovin’ to hear it.” Look for Chris on tour now with Rascal Flatts.

RIDDLE ME THIS

You hear it speak, for it has a hard tongue. But it cannot breathe, for it has not a lung.
What is it?

A Bell.

This Is Nuts

Fans of Ken and Barbie are being asked to decide whether they should get back together. In 2004, after 43 years of dating, Mattel announced that Ken had "stepped out in a big way," while Barbie began dating a surfer dude doll named Blaine. But with Ken suddenly attaining A-list celebrity status with his role in "Toy Story 3" and an appearance at New York's Fashion Week, Mattel has launched two Facebook pages and a website at BarbieAndKen.com to let fans vote on whether they should reunite by Valentine's Day. Mattel says that through it all, Ken's aim was always to win back Barbie.

HEALTH MOMENT

Scientists in Britain have successfully tested a vaccine, which could work against all known flu strains, The Guardian newspaper reported Monday.
The new vaccine, developed by scientists at Oxford University, differs from traditional treatments by targeting proteins inside the flu virus rather than proteins on the flu's external coat.
The two proteins within the virus are similar across strains and less likely to mutate, meaning new vaccines would not have to be developed for each new strain of the illness.
Traditional vaccines stimulate the body to produce antibodies to fight the flu, whereas the new treatment, developed by a team led by Sarah Gilbert, boosts the production of T-cells, which identify and kill infected cells.
"Fewer of the people who were vaccinated got flu than the people who weren't vaccinated," said Gilbert. "We did get an indication that the vaccine was protecting people, not only from the numbers of people who got flu but also from looking at their T-cells before we gave them flu. The volunteers we vaccinated had T-cells that were activated, primed and ready to kill."
If successfully developed, the new vaccine could prevent outbreaks such as the recent H1N1 flu pandemic.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

Thomas C. Daily of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, assault with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief because of his alleged impatience to get tacos. He was in line at the Taco Bell drive-thru behind a woman whose order was apparently taking too long. Police said he rammed her van from behind with his pickup, got out and yelled, "What are you waiting for, Christmas?!" and "a few extra words," then rammed her three more times until he pushed her van out of the way. When police arrived, his food still wasn't ready. Police said, "I think they were delaying it a little bit."

• No, not really...

And I leave you with this thought.

"The truth isn't always beauty, but the hunger for it is."
