Celebrity Spotlight

Trace Adkins incorporated puppets in his upcoming video for “Brown Chicken, Brown Cow” in an effort to add some humor to the song that full of innuendos. It’s the first time he’s worked with puppets and it’s an experience he’s not sure he wants to repeat. "It was really weird. It made me uncomfortable to tell you the truth. I've never done anything like that and I guess it's because you're looking at this guy's face but you can't help but notice that some guy has his arm up his (BLEEP). (laughs) How can you keep eye contact with another man when that's happening to him." Trace got some great news this week when his duet with Blake Shelton “Hillbilly Bone” is nominated for an ACM Award in the Video of the Year category.

MAKE YOU LAUGH

Wednesday, a member of Canada's Parliament questioned why there
were ads for see-through lingerie and sex toys on the website of the national postal
service. One featured a model wearing only a red and black garter dress. Canadian
postal officials quickly removed the ads and apologized, saying their ad filtering
process was "obviously not working properly."

• But they get a lot more hits when it's working improperly.

RIDDLE ME THIS

Our Hometown Hero(’s) Today is/are Robert Young

Robert once was a successful business owner who thought poverty was “someone else’s responsibility.” But a visit an Indian Reservation changed his thinking—and the course of his life—dramatically.
The reservation looked like a Third World country,” recalls Robert, who was shocked at the widespread poverty he saw: homes with no heat, no electricity, no running water. He vowed to do something about the problem.
He went back to the reservation along with a crew of volunteers, to build a new home for one of the residents, “It was the hardest work I’ve ever done.
Since 1995, Robert has helped construct and coordinate financing for dozens of homes on reservations across the country.
Robert Young is/are our Hometown Hero Today and we salute you.

This Is Nuts

A Los Angeles jewelry store scoffed at Lindsay Lohan's claim that
she borrowed a $2500 necklace and didn't steal it. The owner told TMZ.com that they
rarely loan jewelry to celebrities for photo shoots. And when they do, there's tons of
red tape. The celebrity has to fill out paperwork including an itemized list of items
borrowed, a contract assuming responsibility for it, plus credit card and insurance
information. They don't just let someone put it on and walk out wearing it, the way
Lindsay allegedly did.

* Los Angeles would be safer if they just wrapped Lindsay Lohan in red tape.

HEALTH MOMENT

We breathe every single minute of every day, and without breathing we cannot live.
But as is the case with all parts of the body, often people experience difficulty breathing fully, due to impaired sinuses. When we have a cold or allergies, the sinuses become inflamed, the sinus tissues swell and breathing becomes congested. Virtually everybody has experienced this. Additionally, accidents involving head trauma can occlude the sinuses, and cause long-lasting or even permanent obstruction.
For relief, many people turn to over-the-counter decongestant nasal sprays.
However, over-the-counter decongestants are not for everyone, and there can be some health risks involved with taking certain OTC drugs – especially nasal sprays and decongestants.
While injury-related sinus obstruction may require surgery to relieve, sinus congestion due to colds, flu, allergies or the consumption of some foods can be relieved by natural remedies.
Often, sinus irrigation with a light salt water solution is sufficient to clear up sinus congestion. This is where “neti pots” come in. These are small pots that look like miniature teapots. You usually find them at natural food stores. You simply fill the neti pot with warm salt water, stand over a sink, and pour the little pot of water up your nose. The experience isn’t that pleasant, but the results may be excellent.
Another way to go is to breathe the vapors of certain aromatic substances including menthol or eucalyptus. Yet another way to go is to suck on a eucalyptus-based cough drop. You will find that as you suck on them your sinuses open up. This is a quick, inexpensive way to go.
Lastly, is plain peppermint tea. Peppermint contains menthol, and when you drink peppermint tea, the menthol in the tea wafts up into the sinuses and helps to decongest them. Peppermint is not as strong as eucalyptus, but it often works well.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

A drunken man in Germany got off at a station stop to have a smoke. But he was taken by surprise when the train pulled out without him. He had left his bag on the train, and he didn't see anyone on the platform who could stop it, so he ran over to the fire alarm and broke the glass. Firefighters rushed to the scene to find no fire or other emergency, other than the man's hand injured by the glass. He told them he had to stop the train because the bag he left on it was full of beer. He's charged with calling in a false alarm to emergency services.

* This is Germany! What emergency could be worse than lost beer?!

And I leave you with this thought.

"To see clearly is poetry, prophecy, and religion, — all in one."
