TIM MCGRAW TOPS COUNTRY CHARTS! Tim McGraw has the number one song in country music again this week with "Felt Good On My Lips." Many people have questioned his loyalty to country music with his recent success films but Tim has never forgotten his first love. "I wouldn't have had any opportunities to be in movies if it hadn't have been for music. I don't ever want to forget that and I don't want anyone else to forget that too." Tim also jokes he has three daughters at home that need shoes and his acting career hasn't paid as well as his music success.

HOMETOWN HERO’S

HOMETOWN HERO’S are people who serve other people, their community, and take pride in honoring, restoring, preserving, or celebrating an aspect of American hometown life, be it their work, passion, or pastime. Thus, the truest meaning of “HOMETOWN HERO ” is people protecting, defending, caring for or serving others. With that as the background, WHO is a “HOMETOWN HERO ” in your life or the life of others ? E-mail me, dondiego@kgrt.com and let me know who they are. Some of the greatest “HOMETOWN HERO’S ” in our lives are unknown to the outside world and garner very little, if any, attention.

This Is Nuts

Early feminists believed that women wanted to break free of the home and "find themselves" by having a career, but decades later, that doesn't seem to be the case. In a survey of 922 women by London's Sunday Times, 59 percent said they feel pressured by society to go out and work. But 69 percent said that if money weren't an issue, they'd rather stay home and take care of the kids. Among unmarried women, 64 percent said they aspire to find a husband who makes more money than they do. Exactly none said

HEALTH MOMENT

Flu season's arrived with lots of coughing and fever, but there's still plenty of vaccine for procrastinators.
But don't wait much longer — it takes about two weeks for the vaccine's protection to kick in.
"Take the opportunity while you've got the chance," advises Dr. Daniel Jernigan of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
If this seems like a late start for influenza, not so: We're just getting back to normal after the swine flu pandemic that made the 2009-10 flu season hit unusually early.
January and February typically are the worst flu months, and it can drag into March. And this winter, a well-known nasty strain of Type A flu is causing most of the illnesses so far in the U.S. This so-called H3N2 branch of the flu family tends to trigger more pneumonia and other complications than other forms of influenza.
This year's vaccine does offer triple protection — against the swine flu known formally as Type A H1N1 flu, the worrisome H3N2 strain, and the Type B flu that tends to be less severe.
People tend to think January's too late to get vaccinated when it's not, so get yours sooner rather than later.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

The "self-esteem" movement has gone so far, today's kids seem to require regular praise just to survive. A professor at Ohio State University asked 282 students to rate how much they wanted and liked various pleasurable activities, such as getting a paycheck, seeing a friend or eating a favorite food. They rated receiving a compliment and getting a good grade higher than any other activities. The professor said he was stunned because he tried to list everything he thought a college student would like, and they still preferred having their egos stroked.
* This study is bringing the professor a lot of praise and attention, and he's loving every minute of it.

And I leave you with this thought.

"Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties."
