EATING THEIR WORDS. Since breaking on to the country music scene, Darius Rucker has charted three number one songs, set country music records, and scored a Platinum-selling album. But Darius says that there were several people in the music business who didn’t think he had a chance in the beginning. (Cut #3) “There’s a lot of people in Nashville. I don’t think anybody would say it now, but there was a lot of people that didn’t think it was going to work. Lots! And I don’t blame them. Ya know, especially with what was going on at the time when my record came out. But, ya know it worked! (laughs)” Darius’s latest single “History In the Making” is already a top ten hit and has the potential to be yet another chart topper for the man from South Carolina.

Teacher Workshop
Free
This half-day workshop will target middle and high school teachers providing them with resources and tools to help build financial awareness and education in their classrooms. New Mexico high schools must now offer financial literacy as an elective in their curricula. From 2004 to 2006, NM students surveyed had a minimal indication of improvement in the area of financial literacy. The workshop will feature a continental breakfast, box lunches, a keynote speaker and three breakout sessions. There will be no cost for teachers to attend this workshop, however registration is required and space is limited.

HOMETOWN HERO’S
HOMETOWN HERO’S are people who serve other people, their community, and take pride in honoring, restoring, preserving, or celebrating an aspect of American hometown life, be it their work, passion, or pastime.
Thus, the truest meaning of “HOMETOWN HERO ” is people protecting, defending, caring for or serving others.
With that as the background, WHO is a “HOMETOWN HERO ” in your life or the life of others ? Some of the greatest “HOMETOWN HERO’S ” in our lives are unknown to the outside world and garner very little, if any, attention.
March of Dimes Is Our Hometown Hero Today
The March of Dimes is the leading non-profit for pregnancy and baby health and each year the organization raises tens of thousands of dollars to keep babies healthy. Their two largest fundraisers are March for Babies and High Heels for High Hopes. In 2008, the Second Annual High Heels for High Hopes event brought together an elite group of outstanding women in Doña Ana County, nominated for their active community service and leadership within the community, with local salons and media to raise awareness about premature births. In total, the campaign raised $55,000, up from $44,000 raised during 2007’s campaign. The campaign came to a close on November 20, 2008 during a Style Gala Dinner and Silent Auction at Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces.

This Is Nuts
President Obama gave a 75-minute long State of the Union Address that had something to please and anger everyone. He called for a spending freeze that he once blasted when John McCain suggested it. He wants the government to create green jobs both by making solar panels and building more nuke plants. He called for ending the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on gays, but he's taken no action on that. He admitted that everyone hated the bank bailouts, and claimed he hated them, too. He blamed the economic mess on tax cuts, spending and a Medicare drug entitlement that he inherited from Bush, and proposed fixing the economy with tax cuts, more stimulus spending, and a bill to expand health care. And he wants to tell a million people that their student loan debt from college will be forgiven after 20 years, or 10 years if they go into public service.
* In fact, that's why he ran for President: so he could finally pay off his student loan debt.
HEALTH MOMENT
Vertigo refers to the sensation of spinning experienced by an individual even though the body is stationary. It may cause the individual to feel like his environment is spinning around him (known as objective vertigo) or he himself is whirling in relation to his stationary surroundings (known as subjective vertigo).
The main symptom of vertigo is a spinning sensation experienced in a stationary state. This sensation may last for a few seconds or may be prolonged, eventually resulting in nausea. Other symptoms that are known to accompany vertigo include ringing in the ears, light-headedness, weakness, blurred vision, uncoordinated body movements, low blood pressure, and headaches.
Home Remedies for Vertigo
There are a number of simple vertigo home remedies out there. They are known to limit discomfort and as a result ease symptoms.
• Soak a spoon of gooseberry powder and a spoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water and leave overnight. The next morning strain the solution, add some sugar and drink.
• In a glass of water add some black pepper, lemon juice and salt. Drinking this solution eases dizziness.

Diet for Vertigo
Individuals experiencing vertigo can make slight changes in their diet plan to help ease the symptoms. This includes limiting intake of foods groups like caffeine, alcohol, and processed foods. Also drink lots of water as dehydration can set off a spell of dizziness.
Other Suggestions for Vertigo
Balance exercises help deal with vertigo. When you feel dizzy, a simple exercise that will help the spell pass is to sit still and focus in an invisible point across the room. Limit sudden movements like jerking out of bed, instead get off it slowly and steadily, allowing your brain to process the movement. Breathing exercises and alternative therapies like yoga also help deal with vertigo.
BREAK TIME CHATTER
The Irish bookmaker Paddy Power had offered a long list of bets on the speech, including which cliché he would say first. The phrase "health care reform" had the lowest odds at 4-1, followed by "as I stand here today" and "defining moment" (12-1 each). "Let me be clear" was 14-1, and "We have to make hard choices" was 25-1. Way down the odds list were "Let's get ready to rumble" and "life is like a box of chocolates," both at 250-1. And odds were 500 to 1 that he'd say, "Always bet on black!"
* I like longshots; I was betting he’d say, "I'm coo-coo for Coco Puffs!"
And I leave you with this thought.
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
