Teacher Workshop
Free
This half-day workshop will target middle and high school teachers providing them with resources and tools to help build financial awareness and education in their classrooms. New Mexico high schools must now offer financial literacy as an elective in their curricula. From 2004 to 2006, NM students surveyed had a minimal indication of improvement in the area of financial literacy. The workshop will feature a continental breakfast, box lunches, a keynote speaker and three breakout sessions. There will be no cost for teachers to attend this workshop, however registration is required and space is limited.

Mash the potatoes or make french fries.
HOMETOWN HERO’S
HOMETOWN HERO’S are people who serve other people, their community, and take pride in honoring, restoring, preserving, or celebrating an aspect of American hometown life, be it their work, passion, or pastime.
Thus, the truest meaning of “HOMETOWN HERO ” is people protecting, defending, caring for or serving others.
With that as the background, WHO is a “HOMETOWN HERO ” in your life or the life of others ? Some of the greatest “HOMETOWN HERO’S ” in our lives are unknown to the outside world and garner very little, if any, attention.
Habitat for Humanity Is Our Hometown Hero Today
What is Habitat for Humanity?
A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry.
We seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
To accomplish these goals, we invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller, along with his wife, Linda.
Today, we have built over 350,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.75 million Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner (partner) families.
Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.
Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans.
The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.

This Is Nuts
President Obama says he will keep pushing for his agenda, including health care reform, even if voters punish Democrats at the polls. He told Diane Sawyer, "I'd rather be a really good one-term President than a mediocre two-term President."
* Except he has to convince other Democrats that it’s better to be a one-term Congressman than a 10-term Congressman.
HEALTH MOMENT
Leg cramps are an involuntary contraction of a single muscle or a group of muscles in the leg. These are usually painful and extremely discomforting. Leg cramps often occur in elderly patients though age is no criteria as it is often seen in young people too. Leg cramps generally occur in the calf muscle, the hamstring and the quadriceps. The duration of a leg cramp ranges from less than a minute to several minutes at times.
The exact cause of a leg cramp is extremely difficult to pinpoint, some of the factors leading to the same are as follows -
Muscle fatigue due to overexertion
Rigorous exercises
Dehydration
Excess weight
Electrolyte, hormonal or fluid imbalances
Side effects of certain medicines such as diuretics.
An unusual or a different exercise than what is done normally.
Diminished blood supply.
Nerve abnormalities.
Nerve and muscle diseases.
What to do when you get a leg cramp?
Stretch the sore muscle, follow your instinct, your body will automatically guide you in the correct manner.
Massage the cramped muscle gently in the natural direction of the muscle. This helps relax the contraction and ease the pain.
A hot shower or warm bath is a good way to relax the muscle.
Use cold packs on the affected muscle. This relaxes the tensed muscles.
For a cramped calf muscle, stretch and massage the leg by straightening it and pointing the toes upward, towards the head.
Use a warm towel or heating pad to alleviate pain or tenderness following a cramp.
Diet rich in potassium and calcium
Increase water consumption to stay well hydrated throughout the day.
Potassium and calcium rich foods will keep the level of these two much required nutrients at optimum levels preventing cramping episodes.
BREAK TIME CHATTER
Rebecca Moore of Joplin, Missouri, had a $20,000, two-carat diamond ring stolen from her car. A few hours later, a man and woman came into Newton's Jewelry to try to sell it, but the owner recognized it and called police. When the cops arrived, the man swallowed the ring and tried to deny any part in the theft. But as they were questioning him, he began to cough uncontrollably and eventually coughed up the ring in front of the cops.
* She left a $20,000 ring in her car? That IS hard to swallow.
And I leave you with this thought.
"We may go to the moon, but that's not very far.
The greatest distance we have to cover still lies within us."
