Celebrity Spotlight

REBA MCENTIRE REIGNS ONCE AGAIN. Reba McEntire’s “Consider Me Gone,” is the number one song again this week on the Country Aircheck Chart making it her longest charting number one song in history. Dierks Bentley’s “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes,” is number two followed Tim McGraw’s “Southern Voice.” Miranda Lambert’s “White Liar,” is number four, and at number five is Jason Aldean’s “The Truth.”
Reba recalls the first time she sang on the Grand Ole Opry on September 17th, 1977. (Cut #2) “Getting to sing on the Grand Ole Opry was a dream come true for my whole family. Mommy and Daddy and my older sister Alice came in from Oklahoma just to be there when I got to sing on the Grand Ole Opry. And I only got to sing one song pulled up and she took one of my songs. I said she could have both of them just as long as I could meet Dolly Parton. (laughs)”

HOMETOWN HERO’S

HOMETOWN HERO’S are people who serve other people, their community, and take pride in honoring, restoring, preserving, or celebrating an aspect of American hometown life, be it their work, passion, or pastime.
Thus, the truest meaning of “HOMETOWN HERO ” is people protecting, defending, caring for or serving others.
With that as the background, WHO is a “HOMETOWN HERO ” in your life or the life of others ? Some of the greatest “HOMETOWN HERO’S ” in our lives are unknown to the outside world and garner very little, if any, attention.

This Is Nuts

Men might think they're evolving faster than women, but women are beating men where it counts: in Trivial Pursuit. Hasbro decided to settle the old question of which sex is smarter by letting millions of people compete against the opposite sex in an online version of the trivia game. Each correct answer is worth one point. After several months, women have pulled into the lead by 10,000 points. The score is so close that they've put out a last-minute appeal for players before the final result is announced next month.
* Further proof that women never forget even the most trivial thing.

HEALTH MOMENT

Rise in body temperature is the most common symptom of fever. Other symptoms of fever depend upon the underlying factors that cause fever. An oral temperature of 102 F should be considered fairly high. Hallucination, irritability and confusion may be caused due to high fever between 103 F to 106 F. Sweating, dehydration, headache, muscle aches, lack of appetite, burning eyes, general weakness and shivering are some other symptoms of fever.
Remedies for reducing body temperature
Drink lots of water to compensate for the loss of body fluid. This will also help to reduce the body temperature. To immediately reduce high body temperature, boil powder of 2 to 3 tsp dry roasted fenugreek seeds. Strain the water and add a drop of clarified butter to it and drink. Drink juice made out of sweet basil leaves twice or thrice a day. Prepare linden tea by boiling 1 tbsp of linden flower in 1 cup of water and drink it hot. Brew willow bark tea and drink it by taking small sips. Willow bark has some aspirin related compound. If you are not comfortable with it then use black elder.
If the fever is mild, lie on a bed and completely cover yourself with a blanket for 20 minutes. Crush 10 grams of raisins and ginger. Boil them in 200 ml of water till it reduces to 50 ml. Strain and drink this solution warm.
Liquid foods should be preferred
Prefer liquid food over solid food. Eat foods that are easily digestible. Eat boiled or steamed vegetables, vegetable soup, honey and yogurt. Eat fresh fruits and drink fresh fruit juices. Drink cows milk in small quantity 2 to 3 times a day. Eat rice cooked with lentils with spices like cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric, coriander, and salt added to it. Completely avoid heavy foods like fast food, chicken, fish, raw foods and fried foods.
Other Suggestions for Fever
Take complete rest. Take cool baths. Children should not be given aspirin for fever; instead they should be given cold bath. Avoid heavy exercises and sudden temperature change.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

New York City's skinniest house has finally sold. The 1873 town house in Greenwich Village was once the home of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. It was listed for $2.7 million and sold for $2.1 million, but that's half a million more than it last sold for in 2000. The house is 42 feet from front to back, and just 9-and-a-half feet wide.
* It was hard to find a buyer because there are only about 10 Americans skinny enough to live in it.

And I leave you with this thought.
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all
