Celebrity Spotlight

As the first artist signed to Arista Records' country division, Alan Jackson's first single, "Blue Blooded Woman," peaked at a dismal No. 45 on the country charts in 1989. Clearly, things improved substantially with the next single -- the title track from his debut album, Here in the Real World -- and the hits haven't stopped yet. Fifteen years into his career, the superstar has sold more than 40 million albums and scored more than 30 No. 1 singles -- 21 of which he either wrote or co-wrote.
Jackson was born Oct. 17, 1958, in Newnan, Ga., to a blue-collar family. Jackson's father was an automobile mechanic. Caring for a household of seven, his mother helped instill a sense of integrity and small town values. While in high school, Jackson met his future wife, Denise, at a Dairy Queen, and their lasting marriage has produced three daughters.

RIDDLE ME THIS
Soldiers line up spaced with pride,
Two long rows lined side by side.
One sole unit can decide,
If the rows will unite or divide.
Tell me, tell me, scream it out.
What's the thing I talk about?

A Zipper!

HOMETOWN HERO’S

HOMETOWN HERO’S are people who serve other people, their community, and take pride in honoring, restoring, preserving, or celebrating an aspect of American hometown life, be it their work, passion, or pastime.
Thus, the truest meaning of “HOMETOWN HERO ” is people protecting, defending, caring for or serving others.
With that as the background, WHO is a “HOMETOWN HERO ” in your life or the life of others ? Some of the greatest “HOMETOWN HERO’S ” in our lives are unknown to the outside world and garner very little, if any, attention.

Kari developed a passion for improving the skills of the local workforce which led her to help create and co-chair the Regional Educational Initiative with Patsy Duran in May 2007. This ultimately led to the creation of The Bridge in October 2008, a formal organization of which she is a founding board member, and its ongoing efforts to improve the linkage of education with the needs of business.

This Is Nuts

Two fire trucks rushed to a farm in Axedale, Australia, after a farmer smelled gas and reported that he thought a gas pipe was leaking. But the fire captain said when they arrived, they spotted a huge, 265-pound sow, "and it was very obvious where the gas was coming from. We could not only smell it, but we heard it, and it was quite funny." He said the farmer "was a little bit embarrassed, to say the least," but the firefighters managed to compose themselves and "dealt with it fairly professionally."

* They just herded the pig out of the living room.

HEALTH MOMENT

Each and every one must have felt the pain of a burn at least once in their life. Depending upon the severity of burns they are categorized in to three categories namely first degree burns, second degree burns and third degree burns. Burns are treated depending upon the category of the burn and the cause.
After a burn, the very first thing that you should do is to reduce the temperature of the burnt area. Put lots of chilled water or dip that body part into chilled water for 15 to 30 minutes.

Apply honey to the wound once you have washed the wound properly. It will prevent infection and will heal the wound.

Papaya contains enzymes that help to remove dead cells from the wound.

Aloe Vera is good for treating burns. Cut some fresh aloe Vera leaves and put it on the burnt area.Once the wound starts healing, break a capsule of vitamin E and pour the liquid on it. This will prevent scarring.

Applying lavender oil is also found to be effective for burns.

BREAK TIME CHATTER

Mark Boyle of Bath, England, has lived for the past year without any money, and he says it's been the happiest time of his life. Boyle lives in a small trailer, rides a bicycle everywhere, grows or forages for his food, gets his clothes from discard bins, and reuses stuff that other people throw away. He even cleans his teeth with toothpaste that he makes himself from cuttlefish bones washed up on the shore. He calls himself a "freeconomist," and he has pledged to continue living without cash because he says it's made him a happier person.

* Come on, he’s British! How much money did he EVER spend on toothpaste?!

And I leave you with this thought.
"One touch of nature makes the whole world kin."
